Sigma temperature chambers are typically characterized by their outstandingly low gradients, maximized usable working space, and compact exterior size. We use centrifugal blowers and carefully sized plenums with counter-flow air circulation to provide outstanding air mixing, and a more even air flow throughout the workspace. Chambers from other manufacturers typically use vane-axial fans in the top, or back of the chamber.
The vane-axial approach creates a conical air pattern, and thus conical workspace, inside the chamber. Unless you have a conical (or at least spherical) load, a vane-axial chamber will force you to choose between a greatly oversized chamber or poor performance.
Sigma chambers are designed to break up air stratification and keep thermally homogenized air moving as close to the walls and corners as is physically possible. The benefit to you of our design is that you can use a smaller chamber to do the job, and still do it better because of the low gradients. We can provide high speed blowers and/or special air flow vanes and baffles to further improve performance and lower gradients. Another advantage of Sigma's centrifugal blower design is that the blower motors are away from, and behind, the potentially very hot or cold chamber work space. The motors are subjected to substantially less thermal stress with this arrangement and thus are far more reliable than in other designs.
Sigma chambers are energy balanced. Cryogenic coolants are introduced using carefully sized valves and injectors that provide ideal metering of the mass flow and thus precise cooling. Chambers with very fast cooling requirements can be fitted with special boost valves and injectors that speed large transitions without interfering with the precise control afforded by the small control injectors. Heaters are used in the same manner. The standard heaters are carefully sized for good performance with precise control. Extra fast ramps can be achieved with the addition of special boost heaters controlled by a separate circuit. Heating and cooling rates well in excess of 100°C/minute are possible.
Sigma chambers are the most space-efficient chambers you can buy. We use the most efficient wall insulation available. By using better, more efficient (and more tolerant) insulation, we are able to keep wall thickness to about 1/2 of the typical competitive chamber. We understand that only the truly usable space inside the chamber has value to you. Everything else is simply overhead. The efficiency of your working environment is partially determined by the physical distance between the items you use. The number of production stations that will fit in a given space can be seriously impacted by physical size of the temperature chamber you choose. Sigma Systems understands that you want maximum use and efficiency from the space you have available for your job. By using more expensive, but very efficient insulation, and by designing the interior chamber space to be virtually all usable, we use a lot less space to meet your chamber need. Sigma chambers will save you money in space overhead and improve workstation efficiency every month you own them.
Sigma chambers are designed for low maintenance. Because all of the serviceable components (except mechanical refrigeration) are in one cavity typically at working height at the back of the chamber, servicing is easy and efficient. Interior workspace surfaces are all stainless steel so there's no corrosion and clean up is easy. Outside cabinet surfaces are polyester powder coated for durability and for pleasing appearance and easy cleaning.
Sigma chambers are environmentally friendly and safe for users. Cryogenic coolants are
either L-CO2
or L-N2
. All cryogenic chambers are supplied with a
dedicated coolant exhaust port so you can vent coolant gas to the outside
atmosphere, if required. This
is an especially important feature for users in closed or recirculating air environments.
All mechanically refrigerated units use non ozone depleting refrigerants.
There are more features... all stainless steel rivets... durable and easy to clean welded and smooth finished corners... and a lot more. Sigma chambers are simply the best, most carefully engineered, uncompromised temperature chambers you can buy. They typically (but not always) cost a bit more than the competition.
