Compact Design:
Sigma Systems is sensitive to the value of production or research work
space. Whether it is the crowded floor space of a production area or the
precious confines of a work bench, we are aware of the cost associated with
bulky or cumbersome test devices. That is why we utilize the most efficient
materials for the insulation in the walls of our chambers and design our
control and service cavities to be compact. Our expertise has resulted in
the greatest chamber and platform working area to total component footprint
in the business. No longer is it necessary to take up valuable production
room with bulky or cumbersome thick walled chambers or platforms. Sigma
Systems can provide you with more throughput per square foot without
sacrificing efficiency.
Sizing chambers:
Sigma Systems knows the importance of maximizing product throughput in the
space you provide for an environmental test chamber. Our extensive research
and proven expertise has determined the maximum loading configuration
allowable before the performance of the chamber begins to degrade. The air
flows in a Sigma Chamber from top to bottom. Consider a plane that is
perpendicular or normal to this flow vector. We discourage loading the
chamber any more than that which results in a 40% blockage of the plane
normal to flow. Additionally, the devices must be as evenly spaced front to
back and side to side on this plane so that the air flows as evenly and
efficiently around each device. If you have large mass devices to test, your
Sigma Systems sales engineer can help you determine how much heating or
cooling capacity will be required to achieve the results you need. Buying
enough capacity to do the job correctly will result in far better and more
accurate testing and improve throughput.

Sizing thermal platforms:
Thermal platforms transfer heat through conduction from the platform
surface. Thermal uniformity is achieved partially through the aluminum mass
of the platform. Improved uniformity will be achieved if the outside 1" or
so of the platform is not used. Therefore select a platform whose surface is
at least as large as your DUT. If a minimal amount of gradient is desired -
select a platform that allows a minimum of 1" all the way around your DUT.
