Mechanically cooled thermal platforms are the perfect choice for clean room applications, for applications requiring long soaks at low temperatures, or where cryogenic coolants are not available. Refrigeration cooled thermal platforms are slower ramping and have far less heat absorption capacity than their Cryogenic counterparts. However, they operate for less per hour in steady state and stable conditions, so are ideal for long term tests that do not involve fast ramps.
Mechanically cooled thermal platforms are designed with a remote refrigeration umbilical that allows the low profile castered refrigeration cabinet to be placed under a typical workbench with the remote thermal platform on top of the bench. Standard with Model C4. The controller is standardly mounted in the front of the refrigeration cabinet. Remote and rack-mount controller configurations are optional.
All Sigma mechanical refrigeration systems breathe air in from the front and out the back so they can be placed tightly next to other equipment or cabinets without loss of air flow. Each system is designed to be as quiet and compact as possible. All heaters and refrigerant metering valves are located in the service box at the back of the thermal platform chassis to make servicing simple.
Sigma mechanically cooled temperature platforms deliver exceptionally low gradients and reliable performance. Sigma uses a high density array of ultra linear electric resistance heaters to provide smooth and fast heating. Sigma's proprietary cooling design delivers the some of the fastest cooling transitions available - 14°C per minute and better. Sigma provides mechanically cooled platforms with single or double compressor (cascade) designs, providing a low operating temperature of –90°C.
