Mechanical Engineer for Thermal Chambers & Thermal Platforms - Full Time Must have substantial recent experience with design
and implementation of single stage and cascaded refrigeration systems in
temperature/environmental chambers.
If you do not have this
exact experience, please do not apply for this position. Must also be familiar with humidity systems for
these chambers. Thorough knowledge of heat transfer and fluid flow is a basic

About working for Sigma Systems
Our history...
Sigma Systems built it's first temperature chambers in the 1950's. We have been
producing thermal conditioning and testing products continuously since that
time and today lead the industry with customer needs based designs and
legendary quality.
The working environment...
Sigma's working environment is extremely casual. Normal attire is from
shorts & tank tops or T shirts to business suits. Whatever suits you. Shop
employees are required to wear proper clothes and shoes for protection.
Other than those tough rules, we feel that you should be free to spend your
energy getting work done, not tuning your wardrobe.
We are very serious about the work we do and the amount we get done. Folks
who can work and think fast are necessities because we don't have room to
compensate by hiring a sea of mediocre people. The folks at Sigma are
expected to be self motivated and work independently yet interact as part of
a team. We have great appreciation for aggressively competent behavior and
little patience with folks who cannot get along with others. We have a good
deal of fun while we work. We are convinced that talented people enjoy
working with other talented people in a casual and largely unrestrained
atmosphere.
Smoking...
Smoking is not permitted in the Sigma facility. Those employees who smoke are
expected to do so only during designated breaks and outdoors away from entrances to the building. Due to the additional cost
to the company of managing smoking related issues, we would prefer to hire
non smokers and will thus give hiring preference to non smokers.

What it's like to live in San Diego...
Wonderful. The weather is great most all the year. The ocean is right here, the
mountains not far away, Mexico is next door. Very few folks who come here
ever leave (much to the disgust of a few old-timers). Housing is expensive, but
the other costs of living are moderate as you'll spend very little on dry
cleaning, replacing rusted out cars, or heating energy. San Diego is a
relatively (by California standards) conservative place with a few liberal and
really fun enclaves thrown in. Life here is casual everywhere. Below are few
