Advanced construction highlights

Sigma’s proprietary expanding cross section, loop back cooling channel provides outstanding coolant efficiency and reduces thermal gradients. The high density heater array provides very even heating. Positioning the cooling channel low in the platform, and the high density heater array on top further reduces gradients and provides increased opportunities for deep hole drilling for custom fixturing on the platform top surface.

The powder coated stainless steel housing is easy to clean and always looks good. Waterproof high temperature foam around the platform perimeter keeps moisture out of the platform insulation during low temperature operations. A thermal shield over the exhaust protects users during extreme temperature operation.

Proprietary Sigma coolant metering valve(s) are quiet, exceptionally durable, and easy to service. A coolant filter protects the coolant control valves and vaporization channel from contamination. Removable bottom plate allows cleaning of cooling channel to renew efficiency after years of service, or the introduction of contaminated coolant.

All Sigma ATP thermal platforms include a fixed limit high temperature failsafe. Adjustable high & low limit precision failsafe is optional.

Standard Features

Standard hole pattern in all platforms (can be deleted for special orders) provides for easy fixturing, and simple attachment of optional accessories such as Sigma Clamp System, Adapter Plate, and Probing Cover. The precision ground anodized work surface requires no maintenance and provides a tough surface for constant use in production environments. Front panel switch/main power circuit breakers provide protection and convenient on-off control.

Convenient wiring terminal allows connection of optional second temperature probe for use with C5 controller. Standardized controller interface connector allows swapping or upgrading controllers with ease. Coolant valve(s) are housed inside to reduce noise and ice build up. Optional redundant safety valve also fits inside. All low voltage power supply and line voltage power switching components are inside platform chassis and designed for easy service.

Choice of coolant

Sigma thermal platforms are available for use with either L-N2 (liquid nitrogen) or L-CO2 (liquid carbon dioxide) cooling. L-N2 provides control to
–100°C, while L-CO2 is efficient to about –55°C, with temperatures of –65°C to –70°C achievable at lower efficiency. Expected pressure for L-N2 is approximately 90-100 psig (7.2-7.9 bar). Lower pressures typical of bulk L-N2 systems will result in slower cooling performance with greater possibility of temperature latency or oscillation. Expected L-CO2 pressure is approximately 870 psig (70 bar) for performance listed. Users using 300 psig (21.7 bar) refrigerated L-CO2 can expect cooling performance slower than listed rates.

If precision, speed, innovative design, and durable operation are of interest to you then Sigma Quality is the Ultimate Value.
