L–N2 Armored Coolant Delivery Hoses

Armored Stainless Steel L–N2 hoses are an excellent substitute for Vacuum jacketed hoses where test are run infrequently or where vacuum jacketed hoses are not in the budget.

L–N2 (Liquid Nitrogen) Armored SS Hoses

Sigma Armored Stainless Steel L–N2 hoses have the correct fittings to connect any standard L–N2 Dewar (CGA–295 fitting) to any standard Sigma temperature chamber or thermal platform. The inner core of these hoses is 1/4” I.D. convoluted superflex stainless steel with an outer braid of woven stainless steel for strength and a stainless steel armored covering. The small inner diameter of these super flexible hoses reduces the volume of L–N2 that is exposed to ambient heat influences by 75% to improve delivery of liquid phase nitrogen to the cooling process.

These hoses are small, light, and flexible, so they're easily positioned without strain on connections. Because there is no insulating layer in these hoses, they should always be used inside a thick layer of foam insulation. Sigma hoses are supplied with insulation. Note that when the hose is in use and cold, the insulation becomes rigid and unmovable until the hose warms. Armored hoses are less expensive than vacuum jacketed hoses. The external insulation of armored hoses is not as effective as the vacuum layer in a vacuum jacketed hose. Armored hoses are suitable for short hose lengths, occasional use, or when vacuum jacketed hoses are not in the budget. Every Sigma armored superflex hose is fitted with a safety pressure relief valve so that liquid trapping is not an issue.

To learn more about Cryogenic Cooling, hoses, and Accessories read Sigma's
"Cryogenic Cooling for Temperature Chambers and Thermal Platforms - Explained and Demystified"

We recommend using the shortest length and smallest ID diameter hose that matches your chamber/platform, L–N2
or L–CO2 source, and cooling needs to reduce heat absorption by the coolant in the hose.

To prevent metering valves and filter from becoming fouled by tape shards, always use Teflon paste sealant... never Teflon tape... when installing cryogenic coolant plumbing.
